Mentorship Program
We aim to help aspiring romance writers develop their craft, improve their skills, and achieve their writing goals.
Our program is made up of two major components:
One-on-One Mentorship
Our mentees are paired with an agented author to work on their query materials and manuscript. While each partnership looks different, mentees can go into the program knowing they'll receive feedback on their query, synopsis, and their full manuscript from someone who has successfully navigated the querying trenches
Community Development
Mentees will be added to our SmoochPit Community Discord. Within that space, we establish a community of love and support that goes far beyond the end of the program! In addition to building friendships that will help sustain mentees through the trails of the publishing industry, we also facilitate the following in our discord:

Discussions on querying topics, from one-sentence pitches to comps to authors bios!

An organized beta-reader matching program to get more eyes on mentee manuscripts

A writing sprints channel to encourage those revisions (or writing the wait!)

FAQs with agents
And more!
Our program is capped off with a private showcase during
which agents can directly request our mentees' manuscripts!
Who we are
SmoochPit is a volunteer-run mentorship program. This year marks the fourth mentorship class, and we aspire to create a romantic movement for the future. Three romance authors — Christine, a Nigerian-American; Busayo, a Nigerian-Brit; and Amy — plus an army of volunteers came together to create an avenue for romance enthusiasts.
