BIO:
Kate Robb and Aurora Palit are a maple syrup coated, Canadian tuxedo wearing dream team. They met as mentees to a different (and now extinct) mentor program and though neither were chosen for the program, they chose each other. Now that they've shared all their best knowledge, jokes, and penile-related gifs, they are looking for a new bff to send veiled love notes to in the middle of the night (and also impart years of publishing wisdom learned mostly the hard way.)
Kate loves hot wings, tequila and that swooping in your stomach that happens just before two characters fall hard. She still believes in magic, has a sense of humour that appreciates quick wit and those who take a joke too far (hence her instant infatuation with Aurora.) Her debut, THIS SPELLS LOVE, comes out in Dec with The Dial Press.
Aurora eats a lot of sugar and then thinks about her life choices to the tune of Are You Ready For This by Jock Jams. She loves meet cutes, banter, and sassy main characters (i.e. Kate). Her Pitch Wars novel, currently titled SUNSHINE AND SPICE, debuts in October 2024 with Berkley.
MSWL:
*Love: Anything that will make us laugh. Enemies to lovers. Slow burn (but also a first chapter hookup where “oh no, I didn't realize that hot sex was with my new coworker/Pilates instructor/child’s hot new hockey coach). Epistolary romance. Close proximity. Only one bed. Only one broom closet. Light speculative (sexy ghosts, sexy witches, sexy loopholes in the time/space continuum.) We live for banter and awkward moments. Reformed modern day rakes, male or female. Grumpy/Sunshine, MCs that are cinnamon rolls or eat cinnamon rolls, have Adam Driver vibes. Also love a cocky asshole (in books and in life… a weakness) Feminist undertones (and overtones).
BIPOC,2SLGBTQ+, AND FAT REPRESENTATION ARE WELCOME AND EMBRACED!! (would love a Deaf/HoH MC OR LI)
Don't love: Anything too dark (big fat no to non consensual), too sci-fi, anything that comps Nicholas Sparks. We are not against taboo but the writer should know that we will ask a ton of complicated questions about it because, well, we’re annoying and generally deeply troubled by everything.
MENTORING STYLE
We believe in open, transparent, and positive communication. We’re open to scheduling the the odd video call but due to time zones, full time jobs, etc., we prefer to care for our baby bird through Discord until they are ready to fly.
