Bio
Hi! I'm Amarie, and I am a Black contemporary romance/rom-com author based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I love writing about Black, fat, neurodivergent characters following their dreams and receiving the love they deserve. When I'm not writing, I spend most of my time reading other authors' love stories, hand-making candles, and spending time with loved ones.
I am represented by Hillary Fazzari of the Bradford Agency, and my childhood friends to lovers contemporary romance, THE WAY WE USED TO BE, is currently on submission!
Manuscript
Wishlist
(MSWL)
I’m looking for a contemporary romance or rom-com (new adult or adult), that could be closed or open door, I have no preference! I’m a huge lover of friends to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, and lots of yearning! I’m also a huge advocate for BIPOC, queer, fat-positive, and neurodivergent stories and would love to read a manuscript with a character like that at the forefront.
Looking for manuscripts with these vibes:
A Love Like The Sun - Riss Nielson
The Brown Sisters Trilogy - Talia Hibbert
Not Safe For Work - Nisha Tuli
Yours Truly - Abby Jimenez
Not In My Book - Katie Holt
Curvy Girl Summer
I’m not the best fit for:
• Angsty fiction
• Extreme dark romance
• Historical romance
• Fantasy/paranormal/science fiction
• Romantic suspense
Mentoring Style
This is my first mentorship opportunity, so it is both exciting and daunting to see how things will work for me in a mentorship space. However, I plan to approach your manuscript in the same way I approach beta reading for fellow author friends. I am totally the person who will leave in-line comments throughout the story, giving praise and suggestions. However, you do not have to take any of those suggestions because YOU know your story better than anyone else! I plan to be here to support you and your story, however you need that support.
Along with making in-line comments, I will provide an edit letter where I'll formally list out things I loved or things I think could be worked on developmentally, so that will focus on scene/story structure and character arcs.
I'm open to communicating in any way that works for you, but I do prefer email/text communication since I work a typical 9-5 and run an online business! Either way, you can shoot me an email, text, DM, Discord chat, etc., or we could schedule a phone call or a Zoom--whatever YOU need to in order to feel comfortable in sharing your manuscript with me.
In addition to working on your manuscript, I would love to help out with preparing you for your querying journey! I understand the entire querying process can be extremely overwhelming, and I want to be here for you as a resource if you need it!
