Hey! I’m Rufaro and I write adult/new adult romcoms. My first novel Let The Games Begin is a romcom set at the Summer Olympics that follows two twenty somethings as they have a quarter life crisis, find themselves and fall in love. I really enjoy writing stories that explore the messy, chaotic, joyful experience of being in your early/mid twenties. While I love straight up romance, I think of my books as dual POV adult coming of age novels where the characters fall for each other in the midst of finding themselves. So I love reading similar novels about how finding the right person during a pivotal moment in your life can help you fall even deeper in love with yourself.

I’m really looking to read novels about ambitious women in their 20s figuring it out (and occasionally crashing out) along the way. I’m drawn to books that pull me out of my ordinary life and take place in an aspirational world. Whether that’s competitive sports, a film set, the political sphere, the world of the outrageously rich or a character with a romcom worthy job. I love books where I’m just as invested in the setting as the love story.
Mentoring Style
In the past, I’ve scheduled out semi regular (twice a month) mentee meetings where we talk through the querying process, making updates to your manuscript and the next steps to publishing. But I’m happy to read through and give feedback on new chapters and query letters too. It would be great to have some structure so you can get the most out of the process but I’m super open to talking through what would be the most helpful style for you.
