Bio

By day, I work on policy to tax the rich; by night, I'm a historical romance writer with a focus on queer love stories. I'm bisexual and care deeply about writing happy endings for queer people in every era; all my novels involve complicated queer characters making dubiously ethical choices and falling in love in spite of themselves.

After being a mentee in the 2024 Smooch Pit cohort, I'm now represented by Maggie Cooper at Aevitas Creative Management.

(MSWL)

I'm most excited about queer romance, especially more queer historical romance, but I'd love to see queer love stories in any subgenre (contemporary, romcom, sports, fantasy, etc). I have a soft spot for mean, morally gray, and/or unscrupulous women, so send me all your anti-heroines! Stories with a political consciousness always appeal to me—ie, an awareness of the power structures shaping characters' lives, especially in historical and fantasy. A truly formative reading experience was P.D. James's essay on why Austen's Emma is really a mystery, and now I love romances that are put together like a mystery despite not having a traditional mystery to solve.

If you might comp Cat Sebastian, KJ Charles, Joanna Lowell, Meryl Wilsner, or T. Kingfisher I want to read your novel!

I love:
-smart use of tropes: enemies to lovers, rivals to lovers, road trips, forced proximity, convincing found families, pining!!
-heists, schemes, and plots
-open-door steam
-epistolary structure
-nearly any historical setting (I love a Regency, but if you have a Georgian, Edwardian, medieval, or antiquity-set MS, I want it!)
-mystery elements
-complex, layered plots

I'm not a good fit for small-town settings, war stories, sexual violence, strong homophobia or homophobic violence, or anything involving harm to animals.

Mentoring Style

I love to get hands-on and editorial, but I most want you to feel as confident as possible about your work. My feedback style is based on pointing out what's working well and asking questions about areas you could strengthen, as well as brainstorming/collaborating together to problem-solve. As well as an edit letter, I'd love to do a line edit of your MS, which can be as meticulous or general as you prefer–I won't go over your work with a harsh red pen (unless you ask me to)! My goal is for you to get your MS as close to the novel you want it to be as possible, and I'm here to help make your vision a reality.

As well as a few video chats to get to know each other a bit and talk about your MS, I'm most available over email and DM. I'm open to answering questions ad hoc as you're working as well as meeting virtually to discuss broader topics in your revision process.
