I'm Shameez Patel, author of contemporary romance and fantasy. My novels are just like me, full of fangirling, silliness and big emotions. I love enemies-to-lovers in a fantastical setting where I truly believe these two people would kill each other. Likewise, in contemporary romance, I enjoy a well-motivated rivals-to-lovers trope.
I love humor and the side characters almost as much as romance. Give me the laughter. Give me the character development. Give me the friendship group.

I'd love to help more geeks get their work read, edited, and hopefully agented. I am looking for stories with heart and humor. I want to feel how passionate you are about your story. And as much as I enjoy all levels of spice, I'd prefer to mentor a piece on the lower end of the spice scale.
I'm a fairly sensitive reader and do not enjoy graphic depictions of child abuse/rape. I'm fine with violence and gore, especially in fantasy and sci-fi. Please do not select me as your mentor if your manuscripts encourage bigotry in any form.
Mentoring Style
I'd like to read your manuscript, assist with any developmental/grammatical errors I may find and then discuss them with you and ensure that you are happy with any changes you choose to make. I will remind you that it is your work and what is most important is that we make YOUR work better, not turn yours into mine.
